Ubimax began with a clear applied-technology idea: use wearable computing and augmented reality to make frontline work more productive. Hendrik Witt co-founded the company in 2014 and led it as CEO, growing it to more than 120 employees.
A focused category, not technology for its own sake
Ubimax built solutions around real industrial workflows and offered a suite of solutions called Ubimax Frontline (later renamed to TeamViewer Frontline). By the time TeamViewer announced the acquisition in July 2020, Ubimax served more than 200 enterprise customers around the world and had built the clear market leading position in wearable-computing and AR software for frontline workers.
Ambitious technology becomes valuable when it fits the way people actually work.
A transaction with strategic logic
The €130M+ acquisition ranked among Germany’s ten largest startup exits of 2020. The combination brought together remote connectivity, augmented reality and industrial workplace technology.
The lesson carried into O2O
The O2O thesis follows the same discipline: begin with a real operational problem, make advanced technology usable, and connect software to measurable work—not novelty.
